Five suspects remanded in custody for possession of and suspected dealing in drugs

Polokwane: Five suspects who were arrested in Polokwane during a special operation will appear in the Polokwane Magistrates' Court again on 28 July after their brief appearances on Friday for the possession of and suspected dealing in drugs.

The suspects were arrested during a special intelligence driven operation in the city over three days last week.  Chiadikaobi Onwuka was arrested for the possession of 132 bags of CAT and 9 bags of crystal meth, 5 rocks of cocaine as well as small bags of dagga. He also had R 30 000 in his possession. Kenneth Maduabuchukwu was arrested for the possession of 4 small bags of CAT and 4 bags of dagga. Antoni Okeke was arrested for being in possession of CAT as well as an unlicensed fire arm. Hing Choi was arrested for being in possession of crystal meth and Andy Ma for being in possession of dagga. They all appeared in court on Friday and were remanded in custody till their next appearance on 28 July 2015.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in the province, Lieutenant General Fannie Masemola said that these arrests are only an indication of more operations and arrests to come during the rest of the year. He said that the Police are prioritising the arrests of especially suspects who are dealing in drugs because they are destroying the future many bright and talented young people out there. Many families are also being destroyed by drug abuse and he therefor urged people with information on drugs being sold or distributed to come forward and work with the Police in an effort to rid the province of this scourge.
