On Monday 2015-07-20 at about 21:00, Mitchells Plain police were busy with crime prevention duties in Commorant street Rocklands. They spotted a male suspect who tried to hide a parcel he was carrying when he saw police. The suspect then walked away from the parcel towards a nearby vehicle in which there were two occupants. When police questioned him and took him to where he had left the parcel they discovered a firearm namely a black 9mm Browning short firearm, one magazine and one cartridge inside the plastic bag. On examining the vehicle members discovered that it was stolen and was reported stolen in Brackenfell during June 2015.

A 33 year old man was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The firearm was stolen in Ceres during June 2010.The three suspects also face a charge of possession of stolen Vehicle. The two other suspects are aged 25 and 24 respectively. All three from Mitchells Plain are expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain court on Wednesday 2015-07-22.

 

Drugs seized in town centre:
On Monday 2015-07-20 at about 14:00 Mitchells Plain police were busy with crime prevention duties and foot patrols in Calypso Square, Town Centre and arrested a 29 year old male for possession of heroin. The suspect had 26 units of heroin and cash in his possession. The suspect is expected to appear in court on Wednesday 2015-07-22 on a charge of possession of heroin.
