KIMBERELEY - With the aim of eradicating illicit mining, the multi-disciplinary team of operation Vala Umgodi received information about alleged digging of semi-precious metals that are taking place in the Pixley Ka Seme District on Saturday, 01 February 2025.

The members proceeded to the area together with the Prieska Crime Prevention Unit.

The team then received information regarding alleged drugs being sold at different locations.

The police pounced on the identified locations simultaneously, where three suspects between the ages of 35 and 42 were arrested for dealing in drugs and a 45-year-old suspect was issued with R2000.00 fine for selling liquor without a license.

Drugs with an estimated street value of R48 000.00, including liquor and money, were confiscated by the police.

The Vala Umgodi team remains committed to the eradication of illicit mining and other related crimes.
