PRETORIA – Mbheki Steven Nkosi (47), a Correctional Services member working at Ingwavuma briefly appeared at the at the Durban Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on charges of Corruption.

It is alleged that Nkosi approached the victim who had been charged for rape demanded a gratification of R30 000-00 to destroy the case docket.

The matter was reported to Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation team that swiftly reacted with a waylay investigation on the 15 February 2021. Subsequently Nkosi was arrested in possession of about R15 000-00 gratification money allegedly received from the victim. 

Nkosi was later released on R1 000-00 bail, whilst the case was postponed to the 08 April 2021 shortly after he appeared in court on the 17 February 2021.
