The Gauteng management team has noted various media reports in today's newspapers regarding Marikana and overall management of the SAPS. From the perspective of Gauteng SAPS management, there is no mutiny with the SAPS leadership team.

"To the best of our knowledge, management has made submissions to the Marikana Commission. There have never been any discussions regarding us as the leadership team of SAPS distancing ourselves from the submission made by management to the Marikana Commission. As a management team, our focus is on providing emotional support to police men and women from Gauteng who were deployed in Marikana. As a leadership team, we are fully committed to ensuring that we significantly reduce crime in the province. It is clear that these reports in the media are made by people who want to cause divisions and confusion within SAPS."
