KIMBERLEY - Evidence presented before the Springbok Regional Court heard how, on Friday, 17 April 2020, the complainant found that his house in Vioolsdrift had been broken into.

The complainant notified the police, and a case was subsequently opened and investigated.

The accused was traced and arrested, and the stolen property was recovered.

The Springbok Regional Court recently convicted and sentenced 32-year-old Richard Kock to three (3) years imprisonment for housebreaking and theft, ten (10) years imprisonment for possession of a firearm, of which three (3) years is suspended and one (1) year imprisonment for possession of ammunition.

The Namakwa District Management welcomed the sentencing and applauded the Investigating Officer D/Sgt Elrich Losper and Mr Basil Kock of the National Prosecuting Authority for guiding and leading the evidence during the court proceedings and securing a conviction.
