MPUMALANGA - Joseph Nyalungu (60) and his wife, Dudu Alicia Mathumbu (56) together with their company, Mjingo Projects and Transport services (Pty) Ltd appeared before the Nelspruit Magistrate Court on Monday, 30 July 2024 for failing to submit Company Income Tax as required by section 25 of Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011, during the tax period 2015 to 2023. He further contravened section 234(2)(d) of Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011.

Nyalungu failed to submit personal income tax returns during the Tax Period 2014 to 2023. Furthermore, his wife Mathumbu also contravened section 234(2)(d) of the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011 in that, during Tax Period 2011 to 2023 she failed to submit Personal Income Tax.  The value involved is R13 Million.

The trio were released on R1000 bail each, and the case was postponed to 12 August 2024 in order to be transferred to the Nelspruit Specialised Commercial Crime Court. Investigation continues.
