Media Statement GAUTENG - From Thursday 08 August to Thursday 15 August 2024 Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested one hundred and twenty nine (129) suspects, recovering fifty nine (59) motor vehicles and five (05) firearms. Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to fifty nine (59) arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, common robbery, house robbery, possession of housebreaking implements, possession of car breaking implements, domestic violence, illicit cigarettes, malicious damage to property, theft, housebreaking, intimidation, possession of unlicensed ammunition and possession of endangered species. Fifty-nine (59) hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with nine (09) arrests for the possession of these vehicles. Five (05) unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying three (03) arrests. In further policing fifty-eight (58) arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cat (cocaine), mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents. Investigation continues in these cases.
The suspects will be appearing in the local Magistrates courts across Gauteng.
