GAUTENG - The police members from Gauteng Provincial and Johannesburg District Essential  Infrastructure teams, various stations across Joburg District together with other units and law enforcement agencies that include POPS, K9,City Power, JMPD,  Eskom, Security companies, Bidvest(Vodacom) , and Gauteng Traffic Wardens  conducted an Operation around Zandspruit informal settlement in Honeydew policing precinct.

The aim of the operation was to address the ongoing illegal connection of electricity in the area.

The team recovered about 50 meters of cable and 24 transformers with an estimated value of R1763 000.

The Johannesburg District Commissioner Major General Nonhlanhla Kubheka applauded the members and other law enforcement agencies for their continued efforts to intensify operations aimed at combating essential infrastructure related crimes and she also encourage the community to provide the police with information or tipoffs related to the theft of cables and damage to essential infrastructure.
