Through disruptive operations that have been executed during the week 206 arrests executed relating to drugs, 768 280 milliliters of alcohol, mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R 7 100.00, Tik with an estimated street value of R33 605.00 and dagga to the estimated street value of R44 268.00 have been confiscated.

As a result of tracing operations held this week 51 wanted suspects have been arrested.  

A total of 611 suspects have been arrested for charges relating to murder, assault common, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), drunk and driving, possession of dangerous weapon, malicious damage to property, house breaking and theft, possession of unlicensed firearm, dealing in liquor without a license, intimidation, domestic violence, fraud, possession of stolen motor vehicle, possession of hijacked vehicle and rape  with 35 suspects were kept overnight and were released on fines as they committed crimes like being drunk in public, gambling in public or riotous behavior.

On Saturday, 2015-08-01, the victims of a hijacking that occurred in Khayelitsha were dropped off by the hijackers in Mfuleni. At about 23:50 the victims arrived at the Mfuleni police station and alerted the police that they were hijacked in Khayelitsha while they were being delivered in a staff taxi. Mfuleni police were on the lookout for the taxi, when they spotted another taxi of the same company in Mfuleni also in search of the hijacked taxi. They worked together with the police and the hijacked taxi was found in Wesbank at Protem Street at approximately 00:50. Police followed information on the whereabouts of the driver. Three males aged between 24 and 49 years old were arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle and also a firearm was found in their possession. The three suspects will appear at Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court on charges of possession of hijacked vehicle and possession of illegal firearm.

On Saturday, 2015-08-01, Belhar SAPS arrested a 21-year-old male with an imitation firearm at corner of Buitengracht Street and Goedehoop Street.

Delft SAPS on Friday, 31 August 2015, at about 23:00, arrested a 20-year-old male at Slang Court in Leiden with an unlicensed firearm, six rounds of live ammunition and drugs.

During the operations conducted for the aforementioned period 104 suspects, aged between 18 and 52 years were arrested for crimes such as drug possession, the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, possession of stolen property, the illegal sale of liquor and the possession of dangerous weapons.

Kuilsrivier Cluster Commander, Brigadier Vincent Beaton commended the SA Police Service members, Metro Police, Law Enforcement officers, Traffic Police, neighbourhood watch structures and reservists for their dedication and commitment in ensuring the perpetrators of crime are brought to justice. He further encouraged the community to keep on assisting the police in ridding their neighbourhoods of criminal elements.
