Media Statement from Western Cape Media Centre Western Cape: 29-year-old Lukhanyo Mnyatheli, of Ntshiyane Street in Browns Farm, has been convicted to 16 years direct imprisonment; 15 years for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and 1year for the possession of ammunition. The 16 year sentence will run concurrently. The accused was arrested with an illegal firearm in September last year in Sagwityi Street, Browns Farm. In another sentencing, 33-year-old Siyabonga Makhabane was convicted to 16 years imprisonment for a case of murder he committed in June last year opposite Philippi College. The accused will serve 12 years direct imprisonment, and four years wholly suspended to five years, on condition that he is not found guilty of murder. The two were both convicted in the Wynberg Regional Court. The investigators were applauded for their hard work and efforts in ensuring that justice is served.
