The South African Police Service in Apel are investigating a case of inquest following the discovery of an unknown male believed to be 19-years-old, who was found floating in Lepelle river on Sunday 25 June 2023.

Police received a complaint about the drowning and immediately dispatched the members of the Provincial Search and Rescue Unit, who rushed to the vicinity and managed to retrieve his lifeless body.

The deceased is unknown at this stage and efforts to locate his family were not successful.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that can help to identify the deceased or locate his family to contact Investigating Officer Warrant Officer Sebetha on 082 565 7602 or #CrimeStop number 0860010111 or nearest police station or MySAPSApp.
