Media Statement from North West Media Centre Potchefstroom - Today, five men will appear in the Vryburg Magistrate’s Court for robbery. The men were arrested during a joint operation on Friday, 03 July 2015. The operation included Vryburg detectives, Tactical Response Team, Mahikeng Flying Squad as well as the Tracing team. The men are accused of robbing a Bangladesh national at gun point. The robbery happened on Monday, 15 June 2015, at around 09h00. During the attack two Bangladeshis and a South African were on their way from Glenred village to Vryburg town for shopping. While driving towards Friesland, they were pushed out of the road by six men driving in bakkie. A substantial amount of cash was taken from the victims. No one was wounded during the incident. The police followed on information which led them to the suspects, a vehicle which was used during the robbery and goods purchased with the stolen cash. Other suspected stolen items including vehicle tyres, television, clothes and a canopy to the tune of R50 000 were also confiscated.
