Media Statement PARKTOWN - One armed robbery suspect was fatally wounded and another one injured during a shootout with the police in Johannesburg CBD this afternoon. Two firearms with filled of serial numbers were found in possession of the suspects. It is reported that, two sector managers from Johannesburg Central police station swiftly acted on information received about a suspicious looking quantum taxi without a registration number with six male occupants inside. Upon arriving at the said place, the suspect had already forcefully taken one victim inside their taxi and were still struggling to remove the other two victims from their Tazz vehicle. When seeing the police, the suspects started firing shots at their direction and members retaliated, fatally shooting one suspect and wounding the other while the other four fled the scene. The wounded suspect is taken to hospital and will be charged with attempted armed robbery, kidnapping and hijacking. Ends
