Media Statement from KwaZulu Natal Media Centre The Broghton Beach Task Team arrested an alleged serial rapist (39) following a spate of cases that were reported in the Wentworth and Montclair area since January 2015. The suspect will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon for six counts of rape. His modus operandi was to lure women between the ages of 22 and 38 years by promising them employment. He would then walk with these women into a secluded area and threaten them with a knife and rape them. The suspect carried a water in a bottle which he instructed the victims to wash themselves with before raping them. Cases of rape were opened at Wentworth and Montclair police station. An appeal to other victims who may have been allegedly raped by the same suspect is hereby made for the victims to come forward and submit their statements to the police; the investigation continues. The SAPS Management team welcomes the arrest as we are celebrating Women’s Month. The detectives will work tirelessly to gather enough evidence to make sure that the suspect rots in jail if found guilty.
