PARKTOWN - The initiatives of the Multi-disciplinary Task Team on ATM bombings has resulted in the arrest of two suspects and recovery of dye stained money on 17 October 2024.

The team conducted an intelligence led operation whereby information was received about dye stained money which was deposited into a certain account.

The account holder was traced back to an address in Katlehong and it was discovered that the account was opened on behalf of a foreign national woman  who is renting in that yard. Preliminary investigations further led the police to the woman's husband who is a wanted suspect for other cases of ATM bombings. Both were arrested and dye stained cash was recovered at a salon owned by the woman.

Both suspects are expected to appear before court soon on charges of suspected stolen property.

The Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni praised the team for a job well done.
