Barrydale man in court for 200 mandrax tablets

WESTERN CAPE - A 64-year-old man is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the Swellendam Magistrates’ court on Thursday, 31 October 2024 in connection with 200 mandrax tablets which were found in his possession.

On Wednesday, 30 October 2024 at about 10:00 Barrydale police members were conducting patrols along the R62 when they noticed a man who acted strangely. The vigilant members approached the man and upon searching him, found the mandrax tablets as well as 1 kilogram of dagga in his possession. Police confiscated the drugs with an estimated street value of R20 000 and arrested the 64-year-old man on a charge of dealing in drugs.

The suspect remains in police custody.
