Another shameful and embarrassing dehumanising has dawned on the community of Mmabatho. Police made a breakthrough in the case involving a brutal murder and rape of the 98-year-old woman from Tloung village, outside Mahikeng. The Community of Mahikeng and the entire Province woke up to the sad news of Betty Titse who was allegedly raped and killed on Saturday, 19 January 2013. The police had since launched a massive manhunt for the suspect.

The body of the old woman was found at her house in Tloung Village near Mahikeng by her grandson. She was found with bruises on her neck and her lifeless body was covered with a blanket. An intensive Investigation led to 33-year-old suspect arrest.

The arrest occurred on Tuesday, 12 February 2013, at about 17:00 in Mahikeng Central Business District (CBD). The police initially went to his place where exhibits with blood stains in clothes suspected to have been worn by the suspect during the commission of crime was found. The suspect is staying in the same village with the deceased.

The suspect is expected to appear before Mmabatho Magistrates' Court this Friday, 15 February 2013 on charges of Murder and Rape. The Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Zukiswa Mbombo applauded members who delicately spent sleepless nights to crack the case.
