POTCHEFSTROOM - Since Monday, 23 December 2024 until this morning, a total of 47 illegal miners were placed under arrest for illegal mining, trespassing and contravention of the Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2002. 

On Friday, 27 December 2024, 10 illegal miners resurfaced at Margaret Shaft and in the early hours of this morning 11 miners resurfaced at Buffelsfontein shaft no 10.

All of them are still being processed and are expected to appear in the Stilfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 December 2024.

 "Vala Umgodi" operations will continue through this festive season.
