Rhino poachers stopped on their tracks

Pretoria – Three suspected rhino poachers have been arrested in Pienaarsrivier on Wednesday en route to poach rhinos in Thabazimbi. The Limpopo Rhino Poaching Task Team acted on information from the Hawks in Pretoria about a vehicle carrying the suspects to a private game farm in Thabazimbi and when the identified vehicle was stopped, a panga, a hunting rifle with a silencer and eight live ammunitions were found in the possession of the suspects.

The suspects, aged between 34 and 40 years, will appear before the Bela Bela Magistrate’s Court on Friday, facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as conspiracy to commit rhino poaching.
