Media Statement EASTERN CAPE - In a major boost to community crime-fighting efforts, MTN has donated advanced equipment to the Eastern Cape Community Policing Forum (CPF) to enhance crime detection and prevention using cutting-edge technology. The official handover ceremony took place at the Griffiths Mxenge Provincial Head Office on 18 Tuesday 2025, where representatives from various districts gathered to witness the momentous occasion. The MTN representative, Mr Len Zaal, officially handed over the equipment to Mr. Masilela and Mr. Buys of the CPF. Among the donated items were CIB jumpsuits, tactical aluminium LED flashlights, Lenovo IdeaPads, PTT radios, mobile phone tripods, workstation PCs, and a projector, among others. The equipment will be distributed across the province, with a particular focus on assisting crime-fighting efforts in disadvantaged communities such as Mthatha and Lusikisiki, where criminal activity remains a pressing concern. The Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Crime Detection, Major General ZM Dladla, expressed appreciation for MTN’s contribution, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in the fight against crime. “We welcome this sponsorship and urge CPF members to utilize these resources wisely and responsibly. This is not for us but for the community,” said Major General Dladla. The event concluded on a warm note with closing remarks from Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Support Services, Major General NHT Tito, who reiterated the significance of collaboration in promoting a safer environment for all.
