Media Statement KWAZULU-NATAL - On Sunday, 02 August 2026, Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Commercial Crime Investigation served summons to a 41-year-old suspect to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 03 September 2026 for Contravention of the Counterfeit Goods Act. The summons was issued after a container was stopped and inspected by Border police in Durban in February 2026. As a result, Hawks members conducted a search and seizure operation on 21 July 2026, during which the goods were seized. The samples were collected and sent to the brand experts for analysis. It was confirmed that Nike, Adidas, Lacoste and Sneakers products with an estimated street value of R44 481 900.00 were counterfeit . On Sunday 02 August 2026, the suspect was then served with summons to appear before Durban Magistrate’s Court on 03 September 2026. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Acting Provincial Head, Brigadier Zenobia Mulligan applauded the members for the good work. Ends
