CAPE TOWN - Police operations yielded excellent results in retrieving firearms, ammunition, drugs and a vehicle used in a business robbery.

On 10 April 2021, members of the Tactical Integrated Response Team were conducting crime prevention operations when a vehicle with suspicious looking individuals caught their eye. The vehicle was stopped and searched where-after indication of potential drugs were detected in the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were interviewed and they provided information of an alleged drug house in Delft. SAPS members followed up on the information and upon entering the premises, a consignment of drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash were found. A 26-year-old man was arrested on a charge of possession of drugs. He is due to appear in court on Monday, 12 April 2021.

On 10 April 2021, at about 22:00, Khayelitsha SAPS members in conjunction with Law Enforcement were doing stop and searches at Bangiso Drive, Sector 6, Site B, Khayelitsha. They stopped and searched three males and found one of them to be in possession of a firearm of which the serial number was filed off. They were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and will appear in court one charged.

On Friday, 09 April 2021, at about 23:30, members attached to Flying Squad were doing visible policing,  stop and searches and patrols on Baden Powel Drive, and July Crescent, Makhaza, Khayelitsha. The members saw three suspicious looking males in the road who, once noticing the SAPS members, entered a house. The members followed, and searched the suspects and one of them was found hiding behind a door and in possession of a firearm. The three suspects aged between 26 and 36 were arrested on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm 

In an unrelated matter, on Friday, 09 April 2021, information was operationalized by Crime Intelligence Unit, Provincial Integrated Team, Klapmuts Detectives and Boland K9 Unit, where a suspect linked to a Klapmuts business robbery was arrested.

The suspect was interviewed by members attached to Crime Intelligence Unit and identified as the driver of the Toyota Avanza, utilized in the commission of a robbery. Further intelligence obtained assisted in identifying the location of the Avanza. The vehicle was tracked and impounded. A 25-year-old suspect was found to be in possession of an assortment of drugs and five cellphones.

He will appear in court once charged on charges of dealing in drugs and possession of suspected stolen property.
