Operation Vala Umgodi continues to bear fruits, illegal miner, undocumented persons nabbed and equipment confiscated

POLOKWANE - Members of SAPS Limpopo Operation Vala Umgodi, arrested one illegal miner, seven suspects for contravention of the immigration act, and confiscated a truck and variety of items at the scene of crime, on Wednesday, 19 March 2025 at Lukalo Village in Tshaulu Policing area, Mopani District.

According to information, members were activated when an illegal mining was conducted, whereby a suspect was identified loading sand onto a truck without a permit. The arrest was effected, and the suspect aged 29 was charged with illegal mining. A truck with three shovels and two pickaxes were confiscated.

Furthermore, in other incidents that occurred in Capricorn, Sekhukhune, and Waterberg Districts, seven (07) suspects were arrested for contravention of the immigration act.

The suspects will appear before the local Magistrate’s Court soon.

The Police investigations are ongoing.
