WESTERN CAPE - An intelligence-driven operation aimed at the illicit drug trade in and around Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape yielded excellent results when members arrested four suspects during a take-down operation on Tuesday, 25 March 2025. The foursome made their first court appearance in the Oudtshoorn Magistrates’ court on Wednesday, 26 March 2025.

On Tuesday, 25 March 2025, members attached to Provincial Organized Crime (Narcotics Section) based in George, Garden Route District Crime Intelligence, Attaqua K9 and Oudtshoorn Crime Prevention Unit combined resources and embarked on a take-down operation following several clandestine operations. The team pounced on four premises situated at Draai Street, Pearl Road, Dassie Road and Malva Road in Oudtshoorn where they arrested suspects on charges related to dealing in drugs, fraud and money laundering. Police confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash as well as a SASSA card during the arrest.

Later the same day (25 March 2025), the team armed with a search warrant, raided a premises on a farm outside Oudtshoorn where a Gomoto motorcycle was seized. It is believed that the motorcycle was used during the commission of a crime.

These arrests and confiscations forms part of an ongoing investigation and clandestine operations into the illicit drug trade. More charges may be added as the investigation unfolds.

The accused, aged 29, 32, 36 and 49, was remanded in custody and the cases against them postponed to 04 April 2025 for a formal bail applications.

Western Cape police management lauded the members for their endeavours to rid communities of drugs.
