Female police official arrested after she shot, and killed her son aged 26 and injured a 16-year-old girl in Botlokwa policing area

POLOKWANE - A female police officer aged 49, attached to Botlokwa police station was arrested on Thursday, 13 February 2025, at around 22:00, after it was reported that she shot and killed her 25-year-old son and his alleged girlfriend at her residence in Mokomene Mashaha, at Botlokwa policing area.

Subsequent to the incident, the Police were summoned to the scene by the suspect, who related what had transpired at her house, following a heated argument with her son. Upon arrival with paramedics, they found the victim’s son motionless with gunshot wounds, holding a sharp instrument in his hand. A 16-year-old girl who was also shot at sustained serious injuries, and was immediately transported to the local hospital for medical attention. She later succumbed to her injuries in hospital

The Police opened two cases of murder and the suspect was then arrested on the spot. Further Police investigations will determine detailed circumstances that led to the incident. The case is being handled by IPID.

She will appear before the Morebeng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 February 2025.

Investigations are ongoing.
