Limpopo Provincial Commissioner welcomes the arrest of an Educator for allegedly raping a 13-year-old female learner in Capricorn District

POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest of a 58-year-old male Educator on Monday afternoon, 31 March 2025 for an alleged rape incident of a 13-year-old female learner at Capricorn District. The arrest follows an ultimatum by the Provincial Commissioner for the police to track down and apprehend the suspect for his unlawful act. 

The suspect has been arrested following an extensive investigation by the detectives from Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. Preliminary investigation reveals that the 13-year-old female learner was allegedly raped several times since November 2024 until March 2025.

The Educator is expected to appear before Mankweng Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 02 April 2025, facing a charge of rape.

“We will do everything to ensure that justice prevails to our young girl. We will never allow anyone to molest children under our watch. Our specialised FCS unit will ensure that we have a watertight case to ensure that justice prevail in this matter. SAPS is still committed to protect the most vulnerable sector of our society against perpetrators of gender-based violence in this province. The FCS will continue to work closely with the social workers to ensure that the family and victim receive adequate psycho-social support,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
