HLABABOMVU LUSIKISIKI - A 51-year-old woman of Ngcoya locality in Ngcoya A/A under Hlababomvu policing precinct in Lusikisiki was arrested on Saturday, 12 April 2025 at about 22:00 for animal cruelty. It was discovered seven cows have been locked inside the kraal without food or water for several days. The woman was charged for cruelty to animals by Hlababomvu police.

The community members were troubled by a bad smell coming from the homestead. They were unable to get inside the homestead to investigate as they allege that the accused barred everyone, even relatives to get into her homestead/premises long before this incident as she accuses everyone of bewitching her late husband. On police arrival, they found seven dead cows inside the kraal with dogs feasting on the carcasses and only six survived which have been taken to a local relative whilst waiting for stock theft and SPCA intervention.

The arrested 51-year-old woman will appear before Lusikisiki Magistrate Court on Monday, 14 April 2025, on charges of cruelty to animals.
