Media Statement NORTHERN CAPE - On Friday, 6 September 2019, the Northern Cape SAPS kicked of this year's casual day with a 5km fun walk in Galeshewe, Kimberley. The local traffic and the SAPS Mounted unit took the lead, while members from SAPS Provincial office and station members from Kimberley, Galeshewe, Roodepan and Kagisho followed. SAPS Provincial Head for Corporate Communications, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba did the welcome and Rev Mathane from Employee Health and Wellness did the prayer and devotion. Jezelle Greef a representative from Yonder(institution for person living with disabilities) and several other stakeholders rendered messages of support while Colonel/Chaplain Colane also added his agreement to the 2019 theme, "It's time to shine", for person living with disabilities. The programme was directed beautifully, by Mr Peet Leeuw, a Chief Administration Officer, employed at Barkly West SAPS. The day was ended off with lovely entertainment from the Yonder gum-boot dancers and tranquil sounds from the Northern Cape SAPS band. Soccer matches was also played amongst the local station, which had the crowd glued to their seats at the Galeshewe soccer turf, where this very educational and fun filled day was held.
