POLOKWANE - Vigilant police action led to the arrest of two suspects, aged 33 and 39, linked to a series of robberies in the Sekhukhune District during the early hours of Wednesday, 23 July 2025. The operation also resulted in the recovery of a robbed vehicle, unlicensed firearms, ammunition, and various stolen goods.

Following up on community tip-offs, members of the Apel SAPS traced the suspects to Marulaneng village within the Sekhukhune policing area. Upon arrival, police discovered the pair in possession of two unlicensed firearms, several rounds of ammunition, and a Toyota Tazz that had been reported stolen.

Further investigation led to the seizure of 17 cellular phones, housebreaking tools, stolen liquor, and an undisclosed amount of cash—items suspected to have been taken during previous robberies.

The suspects have since been linked to four separate business robbery cases in the Apel policing area.

The duo faces multiple charges, including armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen property.

They are expected to appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 24 July 2025.

Investigations are ongoing.
