Media Statement On Friday, 23 May 2025, the Provincial Career Centre (SAPS) in collaboration with other government departments made an indelible mark on learners of Makgobistad village, at Mmoledi High School. Grade 7 to 12 learners from nearby primary schools, including Tshipitota and Makgobi, were also invited. The aim was to inform learners from the rural areas of Mahikeng an opportunity to learn more about SAPS careers and to engage the learners from Grade 7 to 12 to consider SAPS as their potential employer of choice. The following departments honoured the invitation: South African Police Service, Department of Correctional Services and Fire Department (Setlagole) and Ratlou Local Municipality. SAPS Units present were: Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS), Forensic Social Work(FSW), Provincial Career Centre, K9 Unit, Diving Unit/ Search and Rescue, Mahikeng Flying Squad, Provincial and District Corporate Communication. Mrs Tsaone Mokgalagadi, when setting the tone of the day, indicated that this event was made possible by Warrant Officer Tshepang Lentsokwane of Mmabatho FCS. After identifying problems experienced by the learners who drop out of school. Substance abuse that is prevalent at the school is a big concern. Different presenters emphasized the importance of education. Learners were urged not to allow their backgrounds to determine their future, but to preserve. "No matter what", said Mr Obakeng Molwele, the motivational speaker of the day. He is from the same school and village and achieved many academic achievements. The District of Ngaka Modiri Molema was represented by Captain Kgositau, the CPF Coordinator, accompanied by the District CPF Chairperson, Mr Leeepile. Lt Col Tselanyane from North West Corporate Communication summarized the hard work undertaken daily by disciplined and dedicated police officers to make communities safe and he highlighting a plethora of careers available within SAPS. Councillor, Ms Sebolai, and Executive Committee member of Ratlou Local Municipality, urged learners to protect the state infrastructure, including schools and clinics during protests. She motivated learners not to be involved in criminal activities, but to focus on developing themselves. Mmabatho LCRC, Sgt Mafulako, in his display demonstrated how evidence is obtained at a crime scene through finger prints as well as any physical leads that can assist the police in their investigation. The programme was concluded with learners visiting different stalls. They were keen to learn more by asking questions.
