Flying Squad members detain three suspects in Brackenfell

WESTERN CAPE - Police members attached to Maitland Flying Squad apprehended three men in Brackenfell following a high speed car chase on the N1 highway on Sunday 22 June 2025.

Reports suggested that three armed males entered a premises in Yzerfontein (the same day) where they took valuables from the premises after which they fled the scene in the complainants Toyota Urban Cruiser. An all point broadcast was done and the members noticed the suspicious vehicle on the N1 highway and gave chase. The driver of the Toyota failed to stop and attempted to drive them off the road. When they approached the corners of Frans Conradie and Okavango Roads in Brackenfell, the driver lost control and collided with a lamp post. The occupants resisted their arrest, the police members brought the situation under control and search the vehicle. They detained the three men for the possession of a stolen motor vehicle, the possession of presumed stolen property, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, attempted murder, attack on police and resisting arrest.

The suspects are expected to make their court appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charges on Monday 23 June 2025.
