WESTERN CAPE - The Hawks' Asset Forfeiture Investigation in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority's Asset Forfeiture Unit have on 23 June 2025 received a preservation order which was issued by the Western Cape division of the High Court of South Africa in Cape Town on 20 June 2025.

This was after members of the Hawks'South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau(SANEB) acted on intelligence received on 23 August 2024, regarding a Hyundai H1 that was transporting drugs from Gauteng to Cape Town. The vehicle was spotted on the N2 near Strand towards Cape Town. Upon search, seventy one thousand (71 000) mandrax tablets and fourteen(14) bricks of cocaine which weighed 14kg were found concealed in panels of the vehicle. The value of the drugs was estimated at R 6 841 120. 00. Two occupants were arrested.

The vehicle which was estimated at the value trade of R138 600.00 was seized as it was used as an instrumentality. 

Both accused in this matter, Hugo Madlot and Hope Nosipho Cindi are currently out on R15000.00 bail each and will return to court on 07 July 2025.
