WESTERN CAPE - The George based Serious Corruption Investigation team have on 01 July 2025 arrested a 29-year-old suspect, who is a court interpreter, on charges of corruption, fraud, forgery and uttering.

His arrest follows after allegations that on during March 2024 he approached two taxi owners and introduced himself as someone with authority from court. He allegedly made promise to assist them with the release of their impounded taxis at the cost of R3000-00 for each taxi.

An agreement was apparently reached and the suspect completed charge sheets that he allegedly stole at the Thembalethu court and forged the Magistrate's signature.

He is expected to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on 02 July 2025.
