EASTERN CAPE - Efforts by Police members to prevent and detect stolen stock yielded positive results at Venterstad when three suspects were found in possession of suspected stolen meat.

On the 24 July 2025 at 15:30 SAPS members from Venterstad including the stock theft unit followed up on positive information at Stagler Street in the  Lyceumville locality. On their arrival at the identified house a sheep carcas was found in the bedroom.

Three suspects aged between 16 and 19 years were arrested for possession of suspected stolen meat. Later on the day a farmer that stays 6km outside town opened a case of stock theft and on further investigation it was determined that it was the meat that was found in the house.

The suspects will appear on the 28 July 2025 at the Burgersdorp magistrate court.

The Joe Gqabi District Commissioner Major General Lindelwa Vellem commended the members on the swift reaction that made the arrests possible she also thanked the community for the positive information and not tolerating such conduct in the community.
