CHLOORKOP - Operations by law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the inhabitants in the District are making headway as criminal's space is squeezed in Ekurhuleni District.

During their tracing Operation Shanela II, which began on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, and ended early on Thursday, 27 November 2025, the detectives in Ekurhuleni demonstrated this by apprehending 208 suspects.

During the Detectives operations, 135 suspects were arrested for Contact crimes, 22 for Contact related crime, 6 for property crime, 37 for Other serious crime, and 39 for Gender based violence. Members of Crime Intelligence who were also working in parallel to the Detectives, managed to arrest 3 suspects for possession of drug related cases.

On Thursday, 27 November 2025 in the morning, Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole led the integrated Operations comprising of SAPS, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, Siyabangena Patrollers and other stakeholders. The operations were conducted in Dawnpark and Brackendowns areas, whereby 48 illegal immigrants were arrested, 5 illegal shebeens were closed, 4 suspect arrested for possession of drugs, 2 for dealing in drugs, 10 for possession of illicit cigarettes, 1 for possession of dangerous weapons & unlawful possession of ammunition and 133 Traffic fines issued to the value of R44200, 00.

Members of Social Crime Prevention conducted door to door awareness campaigns, distributed educational pamphlets on Gender based violence & and engaged with Community members at the malls to address Commercial crimes, Contact Crime, Property crime and Gender based Violence.

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole thanked the law enforcers for their efforts and team spirit in ensuring the safety and security of the citizens in the District.
