SPRINGBOK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Namakwa District Task Team achieved a significant breakthrough during a coordinated Operation Shanela II  action  in Pofadder on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, in the early hours of the morning.

The operation resulted in seven arrests and the seizure of drugs and cash valued at nearly R50 000-00.

The operations were executed based on intelligence gathered by the Namakwa District Task Team.

Several premises were searched which resulted in the arrest of three males, believed to be foreign nationals aged between 32 and 38 years old and four females between the ages of 20 and 75 years old.

Drugs including Tik, Mandrax and dagga with a collective estimated value of R49 969-71 was seized as well as cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.

The coordinated operation highlights the ongoing success of Operation Shanela II in disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking networks across the Namakwa District.

District Commissioner Brigadier Schalk Andrews praised the Task Team for their exceptional work, reaffirming SAPS’ commitment to intensifying operations and eradicating criminal activities throughout the district.
