GAUTENG - Two suspects were arrested on Friday, 22 November 2024 for possession of unlicensed firearms during operation Vala Umgodi that was conducted at Marathon informal settlement in Primrose.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of six blasting catridges and a 60m detonator that was abandoned. Further illegal mining equipment such as phendukas, gas cylinders, stumper rods, stumper pots, generators, iron balls, steel pipes and liquor sold at an illegal shebeen were seized.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear before court on 25 November 2024.
