Media Statement DURBAN – During an operation at the Madadeni and Ladysmith policing precincts from Thursday, 28 August 2025 until the early hours of Friday, 29 August 2025, police officers from the Amajuba Task Team, Crime Intelligence, and Dannhauser Tracing Team arrested four (4) suspects and retrieved five (5) illegal firearms and SANDF uniform pieces. Police officers acting on intelligence pounced at a homestead in Leisture Farm where they arrested a 38-year-old suspect for being in an unlawful possession of two (2) 9mm pistols as well as a Shotgun, all with serial numbers filled off. An assortment of rounds of ammunition totalling to 48 were also recovered at the homestead. A further search revealed pieces of SANDFs uniforms including, a helmet and a bullet proof vest, a grinder, different sets of vehicle number plates as well as a bag full of cigarettes were also found during the search. The arrested suspect was then detained at Madadeni Police Station, and he was charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as being in possession of property suspected to be stolen. The dedicated team of members then proceeded to St Chads in Ladysmith where they arrested a 39-year-old for a murder case which was committed at Dannhauser during the month of August. The suspect was also found with an unlicensed firearm as well as eight (8) rounds of ammunition. A further probe into this matter led the police officers back to Madadeni in Blauwbosch where the vehicle which was used as the getaway during the commission of the murder case in Dannhauser was recovered. The 39-year-old getaway vehicle driver was also arrested. The team concluded their operation in Blauwbosch with the arrest of a 38-year-old suspect who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as twenty-five 25 rounds of ammunition. The suspects will appear at Madadeni Magistrates Court on Friday, 29 August 2025. The suspect arrested in St Chads will appear at the Ladysmith Magistrates Court facing a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Ends
