Media Statement WESTERN CAPE - On 30 September 2025 at 09:30, Public Order Police (POP) members followed up information of firearms and ammunition being stored at a premises in Chelsea Street, Elsies River. Upon their arrival at the mentioned address, members found an adult male at the premises in possession of a concealed firearm tucked away in his waistline underneath his clothing. Members continued to search the premises occupied by the male and found the case of blank rounds hidden away. He was arrested for the possession of an imitation 9mm firearm and 27 blank 9mm firearm rounds. In an unrelated members of Operation Shanela II arrested a 43-year-old woman for possession of drugs on 30 September 2025 at about 12:30, at a premises in Minnesota Street, Delft. The members received information about drugs being sold at the mentioned address and conducted a search at the premises. The members found and confiscated 48 mandrax tablets and two plastic bags containing tik. The suspects are scheduled to appear respectively in the Goodwood and Bellville Magistrate's Courts, once charged. Ends
