KIMBERLEY – The rapid response by members of Colesberg SAPS resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old foreign national and the seizure of dagga valued at approximately R12,3 million.

On Thursday, 13 November 2025 at approximately 05:00, members immediately operationalised information received regarding the possible transportation of drugs on the N1 towards the Eastern Cape.

The vehicle, an Isuzu bakkie was intercepted near a fuel station and stopped and searched.

Several bags of dagga were found at the back of the bakkie and the suspect was subsequently arrested.  He is expected to appear in court soon on a charge of illegal dealing in drugs.

The Pixley ka Seme District Commissioner, Major General Nomana Mtukushe commended the members for their swift action and the community for providing valuable information regarding criminal activities.  She reiterated that the utilization of national routes for the transportation of narcotics will not be tolerated and efforts will be reinforced during the festive season to curb the trafficking of drugs.
