Media Statement CAPE TOWN - The South African Police Service in the Western Cape strongly condemns the violent incident that resulted in the death of three men in Marikana, Philippi East, on Monday morning, 17 November 2025. At approximately 06:30, a 30-year-old male and two others believed to be in their twenties were shot and fatally wounded on the corner of Sheffield and Nondlwana Roads. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and no arrests have been made at this stage. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined. Philippi East SAPS has registered three counts of murder for further investigation, and detectives are following up on all available leads to trace those responsible. We maintain our uncompromising stance against violence and call on the community to assist police in ensuring that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice. Acts of violence continue to undermine the safety and well-being of our communities, and we urge anyone with information to come forward.
