The death of Sergeant Sharon Ralinala (44) who had been fighting for her life at the Milpark Hospital has left  the police and the members of the Gauteng Flying Squad with a sense of loss. She died on Friday (13 November 2015) at about 14:00. She was was shot by a group of armed men last week Monday while the members of the Flying Squad spotted a suspicious BMW X3 at Golden Highay near Eldorado Park. Two members were left unharmed. The Police vehicle was riddled with bullets.

 Members were on routine patrol when they spotted a suspicious vehicle with tinted windows. Before they can pulled over the vehicle, several shots were fired at them with high calibre firearms. Ralinala who was sittting at the back seat of the police vehicle, was shot and wounded on the head. Their vehicle later crashed into a tree next to the highway and suspects drove away. She was then airlifted to the hospital in a critical condition.  She was still at the Intensive Care Unit when she died.

 The suspects’ vehicle, a BMW was later recovered  and abandoned  at Thokoza on the East Rand. The suspects are still at large and they are considered to be highly dangerous. 

 Police are appealing to anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward. There will be a reward for information. Any information may be forwarded to Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or the nearest police station at all hours.
