Media Statement POLOKWANE - Tiisetso Sello (30) was convicted and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment by the Nebo Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 11 December 2025 for raping a 16-year-old girl at Ga Mashabela village. The court heard that on 31 July 2021, at about 18:00, the victim was walking home from a soccer match at Ga Mashabela to her residence at Ga Mmachacha. While walking through the veld, she was attacked and raped by the suspect. The case was assigned to Sergeant Comfort Seanego of Lebowakgomo Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit for further investigation. On 07 August 2021, the suspect was arrested. Although the bail was successfully opposed, the accused was later granted bail. On 06 October 2025, the Nebo Magistrate's Courts found the accused guilty of rape. On 11 December 2025, he was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment without the option of a fine. The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the sentencing and thanked the investigating officer and team for their persistent efforts to ensure justice for victims of gender violence.
