MAOKENG - Two suspects aged 30 and 36 were arrested for possession of drugs during a roadblock in Maokeng. On Friday, 12 December 2025, at about 08:00, SAPS, in partnership with traffic, CPF, and the youth desk, conducted a roadblock at Marabastad section, Maokeng.

During the roadblock, a taxi was stopped, and while searching it, the members noticed an undocumented person carrying a box with packets of noodles and a hidden black plastic bag containing drugs suspected to be mandrax. The male was taken to his residence, where another male was found. A search of the premises uncovered 16 tablets of suspected drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Both males were arrested, and the suspected drugs estimated to the street value of R20 000-00 and cash were confiscated. The suspects are expected to appear before the Kroonstad Magistrate Court on Monday, 15 December 2025 on charges of possession of drugs and contravention of the Immigration Act.
