Police launch manhunt for a male suspect who fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend at Ritavi

POLOKWANE - The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has directed Police in Ritavi, Mopani District, to make use of the available resources to track down a male suspect who fatally stabbed a female victim. The suspect is said to be the alleged ex-boyfriend of the victim and the incident happened at Wisani village.

The information indicates that the Police were summoned to Letaba Hospital to attend a complaint of murder. They arrived at the casualty and were taken to the consulting room where they found a female deceased who was brought by an ambulance from Dr. C.N.Phatudi hospital at about 02:00 in the morning.

The victim had already succumbed to injuries after sustaining stab wounds on her stomach.

The preliminary investigation suggests that on Monday, 15 December 2025 at around 22:00, the victim was attacked and stabbed by the alleged ex-boyfriend (suspect) at Wisani village

The motive behind the incident is still unknown. However, domestic violence cannot be ruled out.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has strongly condemned the incident and immediately instructed the police to search for the perpetrator to face the full might of the law. "Domestic violence is a big challenge in our Province and has been declared a national disaster by the President of the Country, His Excellency Ramaphosa and anyone perpetuating it must face the consequences" Concluded the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Hadebe.
