On Tuesday, 5 February 2013, Bonny Kalinga (36), of Congo was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment for dealing in drugs by the KwaDukuza Magistrate Court. On 24 May 2012, the KwaDukuza Task Team members embarked on an intelligence driven operation to get rid of drugs in KwaDukuza and surrounding areas. During the operation the accused was arrested at Edgar Charlton Street after he was found in possession of nine pieces of crack cocaine.

"This is an ongoing fight against drugs in the province of KwaZulu-Natal to make sure that drug lords and drug runner's activities are squeezed down to zero.  We appeal to the members of the community to work in partnership with the police by giving information about any criminal activities including drugs in their areas," said Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lt General Mmamonnye  Ngobeni.  Our Crime Stop number 08600 10111 which proves to be effective, can also be used to give information.
