TSHWANE DISTRICT - The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gauteng responded to a robbery at a Mabopane store and two suspects were arrested, on Thursday, 05 February 2026.

It is reported that five suspects were allegedly involved in a robbery. A shootout ensued between the security guards and the suspects resulting in two suspects being arrested.

The remaining suspects fled in a white Polo, which was later recovered in the bushes at Mabopane. Three handguns were also recovered. Two suspects are receiving medical treatment under police guard. Police are searching for the remaining suspects.

A case of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms has been opened. Investigation is underway.
