Both suspects will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court, once they have been charged. In an unrelated incident, members of Operation Shanela II arrested a 33-year-old male for possession of an imitation firearm in Jessica Street Valhalla Park on Tuesday 17 February 2026. The members were doing stop and searches in the area when they spotted the suspicious male. During the search, they found a blank firearm and eight blank rounds of ammunition. He will make his first court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s court, once charged. Furthermore, members of Operation Shanela II deployed in Khayelitsha were patrolling on foot in Island Cam, Site C at around 12:00 yesterday (17 February 2026). They were pointed to a drug outlet in the area where they found a 20-year-old male suspect. While searching his house, they discovered 25 small packets of tik and 30 mandrax tablets. He was arrested on the spot for dealing in drugs. Once charged, the suspect will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.
