The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola and her management conducted the 1st quarter performance review session took place on 26 on 27 July 2024 at the Kimberley SAPS Gymnasium.

In attendance was the Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Koliswa Otola, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Maj Gen Luntu Ngubelanga, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Maj Gen Mmantsheke Lekhele, all Provincial Heads, District Commissioners, the Station commanders from all 91 stations, Labour Unions and the Provincial Community Police Board.

The two day session was officially opened by Maj Gen Ngubelanga on 26 July 2023 followed by messages of support by the Labour Unions, SAPU and POPCRU as well as the Provincial Community Police Board. Lt Gen Otola in her remarks gave clear direction and instructions in relation to expectations and concerns raised by her.

She remarked that discipline and misconduct is an area of concern, the safety of police members is a priority and professionalism is key in the fight against crime.  She also touched on and commented on numerous other issues during her address.

Gen Otola also appreciated the police members and all other relevant role players for their hard work and dedication in having more boots on the ground and eradicating crime in the province.

The Provincial Head of Crime Registrar, Brig Samuel Mathe gave an overview of provincial crime statistics, zooming in on the districts.

The five district commissioners from Pixley Ka Seme, Frances Baard, Namakwa, John Taolo Gaetsewe and ZF Mgcawu gave presentations followed by deliberations and questions from the panel and attendees.

Provincial heads also presented their respective component's quarterly performance. The two day session was facilitated by the Provincial Head for Organizational Development, Brig Merle Coghlan and her personnel.

Lt Gen Otola gave clear directions in terms of her expectations to all commanders across the board and reiterated that commanders take responsibility and accountable in their environments.
